Desiya (ଦେଶିଆ)

Desiya is an Eastern Indo-Aryan language spoken in northeastern India, mainly in Odisha state, particularly in the districts of Koraput, Nabarangpur, Rayagada, Malkangiri and Kalahandi, and also in the Vishakhapatnam and Vizianagaram districts of Andhra Pradesh. In 2011 there were about 227,000 speakers of Desiya.

Desiya is also known as Deshia, Desia, Desiya Oriya or Koraput Oriya. It is considered a dialect of Odia, and is closely related to Adivasi Odia dialects spoken in Andhra Pradesh.
