Khandeshi (खान्देशी)

Khandeshi is an Indo-Aryan language spoken mainly in the Khandesh region in the northwest of Maharashtra state in central India, and also in Gujarat. In Maharastra it is spoken in the districts of Dhule, Nasik and Nandurbar. In 2011 there were about 15,900 speakers of Khandeshi, which is also known as Dhed Gujari, Khandesi, Khandeshi Bhili, Khandish or Maharashtra Bhil.

Dialects of Khandeshi include Dangri, Ahirani, Kunbi, Rangari, Khandesi and Kotali Bhil. The Ahirani dialect (अहिराणी) is the most widely spoken and studied. Khandeshi is written with the Devanagari alphabet.

  1. The book of the generation of Jesus Christ, the son of a David, the son of Abraham.
  2. Abraham begat Isaac; and Isaac begat Jacob; and Jacob begat Judas and his brethren;
  3. And Judas begat Phares and Zara of Thamar; and Phares begat Esrom; and Esrom begat Aram;
