Löyöp is a member of the Southern Oceanic branch of the Malayo-Polynesian language family. It is spoken by about 240 people in northern Vanuatu, particularly in the Divers Bay area in eastern Ureparapara Island, which is part of the Banks Islands group and is located in Torba Province.
Löyöp is also known as Lehalurup, Bay or Divers Bay. It was first documented in 1885 by Robert Codrington (1830-1922), an English missionary and linguist. He called it Bay, and classified it as a dialect of a single language, along with Lehali, which is spoken on the west coast of Ureparapara.
