Western Fijian (Nadrogaa)

Western Fijian is a member of the Oceanic branch of the Malayo-Polynesian language family. It is spoken on the islands of Viti Levu, Yasawa and Mamanuca in western Fiji by about 84,600 people (in 2017). Western Fijian, which is also known as Wayan or Wayan Fijian, is related to but distinct from Standard / Eastern Fijian. It was marginalized by colonial linguists, who considered Eastern Fijian superior.

Andy Pawley, a linguist at the Australian National University, has documented Western Fijian and is working on a dictionary of the language.
