Chambeali (चम्बयाळी)

Chambeali is a member of the North-Western branch of the Western Pahari group of Indo-Aryan languages. It is spoken by about 126,000 people in northern India, mainly in Chamba district in the northwest of Himachal Pradesh state, and also in Jammu and Kashmir state.

Chambeali is also known as Pahari (पहाड़ी), Himachali (हिमाचली), Cameali, Chamaya, Chambiali, Chambiyali, Chamiyali Pahari, Chamrali or Chamya. Dialects include Bansbali, Bansyari and Gadi Chameali. It is closely related to Kangri and other Western Pahari languages.

Chambeali is written with the Devanagari alphabet. In the past it was written with a version of the Takri script.

  1. धन्न हिन से, जे निम्ते हिन, किजोकी तिन्हा ने परमेश्वर रे बणाए जाणे वाली नौई दुनिया रे उत्तराधिकारी होणा।
  2. धन्न हिन से, जे धार्मिकता रे भूख्खे अते प्यासे हिन, किजोकी परमेश्वर ने तिन्हा जो रजाणा।
  3. धन्न हिन से, जे दयालू हिन, किजोकी परमेश्वर ने तिन्हा पर दया करणी।

Transliteration

  1. dhann hin se, je nimte hin, kijokī tinha ne parameśwar re baṇāe jāṇe wālī nauī duniya re uttarādhikārī hoṇā.
  2. dhann hin se, je dhārmikatā re bhūkhkhe ate pyāse hin, kijokī parameśwar ne tinha jo rajāṇā.
  3. dhann hin se, je dayālū hin, kijokī parameśwar ne tinha par dayā karaṇī.

Translation

  1. Blessed are the meek: for they shall inherit the earth.
  2. Blessed are they which do hunger and thirst after righteousness: for they shall be filled.
  3. Blessed are the merciful: for they shall obtain mercy.
