Ibinda (Chibinda)

Ibinda is a Bantu language spoken in the Angolan province and exclave of Cabinda, which lies within the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC). It is closely related to Western Kongo (Kikongo), and is considered a dialect of Kongo by some.

Ibinda is also known as Kibinda, Chibinda, Tchibinda or Cibinda. Other names for the language include Fiote and Fyote, which are considered derogatory by Cabindan people. Dialects include Woyo, Yombe and Kissundi. It is written with the Latin script, and there are some radio programmes in the language.
